Date: 6/27/2014 School/Organization: Families Helping Families Project Leader: Don McDill Amount: $1,000 Description: The Spread Your Wings project was formally set up in January, 2010 with a mission of helping to improve self-confidence and develop positive self-worth in foster children through various after-school activities. Other children who may also qualify for this project are: Relative Placement (grandparents who are parenting their grandchildren), and “Suitable Others” (ex: 17 yr old who needs to be in foster care for short period, but DHS denied – another adult to take into home temporarily)
Eligible activities are: • Tutoring • Piano/Music Lessons • Music Instruments • Martial Arts • Art Classes/Camps • Dance Lessons • Gymnastics • Special Olympics • Swimming Lessons • Sports (baseball, soccer, etc)
