Date: 7/5/2011 School/Organization: Matthew 25 Project Leader: Courtney Ball Amount: $1,000 Description: Matthew 25 requested $1,000 to support after school, hands-on learning opportunities for middle school students. Classes range from one session workshops to 8-week series (8 sessions), using a mixture of paid and volunteer instructors. Past classes at Groundswell have included various subjects in the arts, such as theater and acting, wood carving, basket weaving, holiday cards and ornaments. Matthew 25 worked to expand these subjects to go beyond arts into other areas where volunteer instructors can help get kids excited about learning in creative ways.
