Date: 2/27/2012 School/Organization: HACAP Project Leader: Courtney Ball Amount: $1,000 Description: HACAP has an ongoing relationship with Taylor Elementary School in providing 36 kids each week with a backpack full of child-friendly, nutritious food. These kids are identified by teachers and/or counselors as showing behaviors associated with hunger, and receive a backpack each Friday after permission is granted by their parents. These backpacks help to supplement food for households who are food insecure and have some regularity of lack of food. The cost of each backpack is $5.50 per; this request would enable HACAP to fund the program for just over a month of the 2012-13 school year.
