Date: 12/5/2013 School/Organization: Jefferson High School Project Leader: Sean Neilly Amount: $379.51 Description: The Jefferson Service Club hopes to continue its tradition of community activity this year. Teacher Brian Reynolds has requested a grant to cover the cost of substitute teachers needed when two Jefferson High School staff members take the Jefferson Service Club on community service outings this winter and spring. For a grant of less than $600.00, service club chaperones will be able to plan meaningful off-campus service projects in January around Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and one additional outing in the spring. Students must be chaperoned by certified teachers but funding is hard to come by. Past projects have involved work with Mathew 25, highway clean-up activities and yard maintenance in areas impacted by the flood of 2008.
