​1st Place Award: 
Nick O’Connell, a graduating senior from Jefferson High School has been recommended for an award of $1500.00. Nick will be entering Coe College in the fall and plans to major in business administration. Nick maintained an impressive G.P.A. at Jefferson in spite of great demands on his time at home in support of his family. He was active in Jefferson’s Football and Track teams and maintained a part-time work schedule of 20-30 hours a week. Nick has a documented financial need. He hopes to earn a degree and enter the professional world with an eye towardsfurther supporting his family and his mother, whom he credits for his success.
2nd Place Award:
Alexandria McPhail, a graduating senior from Jefferson High School has been recommended for an award of $1000.00. Alexandra finished her time at Jefferson with a 4.294 cumulative G.P.A. and completed eight Advanced Placement course sequences finishing in the top ten in her class. Alexandria will enter Iowa State University in the fall with a focus on health sciences. Alexandria has an extensive record of community service both to her school and the community. She hopes to continue this giving spirit in her future profession as a dietician, assisting others in making healthy decisions and embracing positive lifestyles.
