Description: The Taylor Destination Imagination team recently competed in a state level
competition in Ames and have qualified to be able to participate in the upcoming D.I. Global
Competition in Knoxville Tennessee May 25th to 29th.
They were seeking community support to help raise funds so we can participate in this once in a lifetime experience for the students. Taylor Elementary is a PreK-5 elementary school with approximately 270 students. Taylor serves
many at risk students where nearly ninety percent of our students participate in the national free/reduced lunch program, thirty-nine percent are minorities, and twenty-three percent have Individual Education Plans. The Destination Imagination is a program that encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as well as the arts and service learning. Participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas while incorporating a collaborative problem solving process.
