Date: 1/10/2010 School/Organization: Taylor Elementary Project Leader: Brian Christoffersen Amount: $500 Description: Tiger Cub Club is a before and after school program operating out of Taylor Elementary. They lost everything in the Flood of 2008 and received no funds from FEMA. The program operated out of Good News Baptist church last year and has since returned to Taylor School upon it's reopening this past fall. Through collaboration with Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids, Tiger Club now serves over 100 students free of charge before and after school. CR netWORK gave a $500 grant for supplies for their program. They purchased two sewing machines ($79 each) for one of their after school "enrichments"; pots, pans, and other kitchenware for their weekly cooking activities (in which they partner with a local 4H group); and some building toys such as Lincoln Logs, Legos, Kid K-nex, etc.
